Tori Kelly & THIRDSTORY | Unbreakable Smile Tour 2016

tori kelly, unbreakable smile, third story, tour, houston, texas, concert, live, 2016

Last week I got the chance to see one of my favorite artists, Tori Kelly in concert for the second time. I’ve been a huge fan of her since she was posting cover videos on YouTube and singing at small coffee shops in California, so you can only imagine my excitement to be able to see her career grow into what it is now. The last time I saw her was back in 2012, and since then she’s released her first album Unbreakable Smile, opened for Ed Sheehan’s sold out show at Madison Square Garden, and was even nominated for a Grammy. The concert was absolutely amazing and so different from her first show I saw. This time she came fully equipped with a band and a lot more frills than the first show which was basically just her and a guitar.

If you know me at all then you know I love music and finding new artists so I was super stoked about her new opening act called ThirdStory. These guys are pretty much my new obsession! They harmonize like nobody’s business, and have such a unique look and sound. I had never heard of them before her show, and was extremely impressed. I attached a video below of one of their original songs (not sure the name of it though) if you want to check them out. I’m also glad I hit record when I did because after coming home and searching all over YouTube, Google, and iTunes I sadly could not find any of their original music. If you watch/listen and are new fans of ThirdStory, then go Like & Share the video to help give these guys the recognition they deserve!

Austin, TX Video Diary

Nathan planned this entire trip to Austin for our 1 year anniversary. We stayed at the South Congress Hotel which was so amazing. The hotel is super eclectic and totally gives you the whole “Austin” vibe. We ate at several of Austin’s top rated restaurants, which we highly recommend Magnolia Cafe & South Congress Cafe for breakfast and brunch. For lunch, Guero’s Taco Bar for the best ritas and fajitas in town, or Hopdoddy if you’re feeling burgers and a nutella & pretzel milkshake (yea.. that’s a real thing). For a late night dinner we went to Searsucker which was a little more pricey and upscale but totally worth it. If you go, you have to try the duck fat fries, trust us! Besides stuffing our faces with delicious food, we also walked up and down South Congress Street and visited a ton of cool little stores and antique shops. The great thing about our hotel was how much we were surrounded by.

On our last day there we took a drive to Fredericksburg, Texas to visit a couple wineries. Surprisingly Texas has some of the United States top rated wineries. We stopped at Becker Vineyard first for a tasting and had an amazing experience. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the different kinds of wine and blends. Our next stop was about 10 minutes up the road at Kuhlman Cellars. Nathan and I were able to get a last minute reservation for a wine and food pairing within 20 minutes of leaving Becker, talk about luck! The pairing was one of the coolest experiences. They gave us 6 bite sized gourmet appetizers to pair with 6 different wine tastings, it was so amazing and unlike anything we had ever tried. If you’re interested in taking a trip to Austin, we both highly recommend all the places linked and listed. If you try any of them out we’d love it if you’d comment and let us know how you liked it.
