Valentine’s Day Pie Pops

Pie Pops

Valentine’s Day is this weekend and I wanted to do something a little different this year. Instead of buying chocolates or ordering my husband’s favorite cupcakes from GiGi’s bakery, I decided to put my wifey skills to the test and bake something of my own. Some may call it beginners luck, but to be completely honest I can’t believe how well they turned out and were super easy to make. The recipe requires very little ingredients and can be made with tons of different fillings. Keep scrolling if you want to see how I made these cute little things.

You’ll need the following: Pillsbury Pie Crusts (comes with two, already rolled out flat), Flour, 2 eggs, White Sugar, Cinnamon (optional), Cookie/Lollipop sticks (make sure they’re oven safe), Pie filling or other filling of your choice, Heart shaped cookie cutters. What you need

Start by sprinkling a handful of flour on a clean flat surface and begin rolling out your dough.Step 1

Next use your cookie cutter to cut out as many hearts as you can. You can also take the left over pieces of dough and combine it together to create a few more. Step 2

Place your hearts on a cookie sheet, making sure to leave a little space between each one.Step 3

Now the fun part of adding in the fillings! I went with classic cherry pie filling and my personal favorite caramel apple. You could add just about anything from peanut butter, nutella/chocolate, or other fruit fillings.Step 4

Next you’re going to add the sticks, and gently press down so they stick to the dough. Make sure you put it about ยผ of the way in the pie so they don’t fall off!Step 5

In a small bowl wisk 1 whole egg together to create your egg wash. On the top half of your heart (the half without the filling) take your finger or a brush and line the edge of the heart with egg wash, this will help seal the pie together. Now place it on top of your other half with the filling.Step 6

After you’ve evenly lined up the two pieces of hearts, take a fork and gently press along the edges of the dough to seal them together.Step 7

Next brush each pie with a little bit of egg wash and sprinkle sugar and/or cinnamon on top. Then pop them in the oven for about 15- 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Step 8

Once they’re done, let them cool for about 5-10 minutes and then decorate with cute ribbon or string for a little something extra! You could even add a little tag with a cute saying for your Valentine. Step 9

Enjoy! <3

My Current Skin Care Routine

skin, care, face, wash, daily, routine, beauty, makeup,

Hey guys, it’s been way too long, but I’m finally back with a new blog post. Through out the years I’ve tried countless skin care products and feel like some did more harm than good, so after years of disappointment and irritated skin I decided to visit a dermatologist. After briefly looking at my skin, she recommended the Oil- Free Acne Wash by Neutrogena and pairing it with the Clarisonic brush. I was kind of surprised and thought how can a drugstore face wash be the answer to my problem, but sure enough she was right! Using the Oil-Free Acne Wash with my Clarisonic feels like a mini facial and gets rid of all the excess makeup left behind even after using makeup remover. The two combined are a match made in heaven! I have combination skin, and sometimes the face wash can be drying (it is oil-free after all), so I like to follow up with the Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer. They have several different ones depending on your skin type, but the one for combination skin is perfect at moisturizing my dry spots, without making my t-zone overly dewy! My husband loves the face wash as well, because it’s quick and gets the job done! They have a grapefruit scented one as well, but we prefer the original. Right now Neutrogena is having a Buy 2, Get 1 Free Summer Sale if you’re interested in trying anything! If you have any skin care routines or regimens you’re loving at the moment, please leave them in the comments below ๐Ÿ™‚

ColourPop Lippie Stix | Review & Swatches

Say hello to my new obsession! I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about the brand ColourPop lately so I decided to give them a try and they did not disappoint. These Lippie Stix are so amazing and for such a great price of only $5! They have an incredibly large selection of colors online and it took me quite a while to choose. I bought four to start with and decided to get two matte finishes and two satin finishes. The satin finishes are just slightly more moisturizing, which is to be expected. They are both extremely long wearing and super pigmented. I love that they don’t dry out your lips like a lot of long wearing lip products tend to do. I can’t wait to order more, and try out their blushes and eyeshadows next. If you’ve tried any of their products before please leave me a comment letting me know some of your faves!

Fetch – Mid tone Pink in a satin finish, great for spring!
Cookie – Nude/Beige in a matte finish, and the easiest to apply.
Frida – Mid tone Nude/Pink in a satin finish, and my personal favorite ๐Ÿ˜‰
LBB – Plum/Wine in a matte finish, created by the blogger LittleBlackBoots.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

Hey guys! My husband Nathan and I had an amazing time in Jamaica for our honeymoon and wanted to share some advice we learned a long to the way to hopefully make your vacation as nice as ours. If you’re a couple looking for a romantic getaway than Sandals Resorts are definitely the way to go, and they have many locations to choose from if you’re not into Jamaica. After literally weeks of going back and forth, we decided on Montego Bay Royal Caribbean Resort . We did a lot of research before hand and this resort seemed to suit us best.

Montego Bay has 3 different resorts which all give a different vibe: Montego Bay Carlyle is the smallest resort which to me looked more like a regular hotel, still nice of course just much smaller. Montego Bay Resort seemed nice, but it is extremely close to the airport and we were told by a Sandals Resort expert that the planes flying over are so close and so loud you can’t even hear yourself talk at times (that was a definite turn off for us). This resort is also known to be more lively and loud, with late night events and dj’s. Lastly, Montego Bay Royal Caribbean, which we chose! It was a the perfect distance from the airport, and also has it’s own private island on the resort with an awesome thai restaurant.

The staff, resort, and rooms were everything we could have hoped for. We did upgrade our room to a butler suite which made us feel like complete royalty for 7 days. Our butlers Flo and Andre went above and beyond! Almost every night we came back to our room, they had some sort of surprise waiting for us when we returned. One night it was a bubble bath and scattered rose petals throughout the room, another night a sweet note and dessert. Their services definitely exceeded our expectations. They gave us a cell phone to contact them at anytime while at the resort and even brought us a cooler full of cold drinks and fresh towels while we were catching some rays on the beach.

There are 8 different restaurants on the resort, two of which are right on the beach and a few others were reservations only. The only thing negative thing I can say is that we were hoping for was a little more spice in the food at the resort. I’m sure they were just trying to accommodate most people, but being in Jamaica I expected a little more flavor in the food.

Each Sandals resort includes a ton of activities from snorkeling, kayaking (which is WAY harder than it looks), beach volleyball, waterskiing, scuba diving, and more. We only ventured off the resort one day to a 3 part excursion to Mystic Mountain. It started with an island tour, then took us to the rainforest where we did a sky lift up a mountain and then we got to ride a bobsled. After that we ate and our last stop was at Dunns River Falls where we got to walk up a water fall. I know it sounds crazy, just check out there website.

Coming soon…

Hey guys, just wanted to do a quick post and apologize for being M.I.A. lately. If you’ve been following me for a while then you know I got married last Saturday on 3/7/15, and we left Sunday morning for Montego Bay, Jamaica! It’s been an insane last couple of weeks but some of the most incredible memories were made and I can’t wait to share them with you all. Pictures and a video from our wedding as well as the honeymoon will be coming very soon so keep a look out if you’re interested!
