Tahoe Born Hair Products Review

Fresh, natural, and unique are the three words that come to mind when I think of Tahoe Born Brand. Hairdresser and cosmetic chemist Nicholaus Augustine has taken hair and skin care products to the next level. Each product is versatile and contains organic ingredients to keep your hair healthy and easy to manage. Below you’ll find a review of some of the products I’ve tried so far.

Calypso Sea Salt + Dry Shampoo:

Talk about volume! I’ve tried many sea salt sprays in the past and most just leave my hair dry and sticky, but Calypso does just the opposite. It smells so fresh and truly gives that “just left the beach” feel. My favorite way to use this product is on damp hair. Just a few sprits and then i’ll scrunch it with my hands to give it some volume and wave.

Calypso Sea Salt Texture Cream & Cleansing Cream:

These two have the same fresh scent as the Sea Salt + Dry Shampoo and help give my hair some texture and volume. Pair it with the Sea Salt + Dry Shampoo for the perfect hair cocktail.

Ylang, Shea, Coconut Smoothing Cleanser and Smoothing Oil:

These two products are great for helping me tame this frizz from all this Texas humidity. It helps smooth my hair and prevents me from needing to straighten it some days.

Sunday Morning Rebalance Cleanser:

The Sunday Morning Cleanser is a definite fave! Normally I’m not a fan of 2 in 1 Shampoo & Conditioners because they leave my hair feeling dry and super tangled… but not this one! The Sunday Morning Cleanser is perfect for stripping all of the dry shampoo and other hair products left over from a couple days before. It is a tad bit watery compared to most shampoo’s and conditioners, but I don’t mind it. My favorite time to use it is actually on Monday morning’s when I’m running late. Having only one product to wash & rinse saves me a lot of time and it has a citrusy smell to it that’s perfect for waking you up and getting your day started!  I’ve never used a 2 in 1 that makes my hair feel so clean, refreshed, and soft!

Silk Hydrate Hair + Skin Serum:

Talk about obsessed! I’ve already gone through half of my bottle and I’ve had it less than a month. This product is extremely versatile and can be used on wet or dry hair to help smooth hair, or apply it your skin to help tighten and moisturize. It smells so amazing and unlike anything I’ve ever smelt before. The serum starts off really silky and then dries quickly without feeling sticky or heavy. My favorite time to use it is when I get out of the shower when my skin feels the most dry, or on the ends of my hair while it’s still damp.

My Current Skin Care Routine

skin, care, face, wash, daily, routine, beauty, makeup,

Hey guys, it’s been way too long, but I’m finally back with a new blog post. Through out the years I’ve tried countless skin care products and feel like some did more harm than good, so after years of disappointment and irritated skin I decided to visit a dermatologist. After briefly looking at my skin, she recommended the Oil- Free Acne Wash by Neutrogena and pairing it with the Clarisonic brush. I was kind of surprised and thought how can a drugstore face wash be the answer to my problem, but sure enough she was right! Using the Oil-Free Acne Wash with my Clarisonic feels like a mini facial and gets rid of all the excess makeup left behind even after using makeup remover. The two combined are a match made in heaven! I have combination skin, and sometimes the face wash can be drying (it is oil-free after all), so I like to follow up with the Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer. They have several different ones depending on your skin type, but the one for combination skin is perfect at moisturizing my dry spots, without making my t-zone overly dewy! My husband loves the face wash as well, because it’s quick and gets the job done! They have a grapefruit scented one as well, but we prefer the original. Right now Neutrogena is having a Buy 2, Get 1 Free Summer Sale if you’re interested in trying anything! If you have any skin care routines or regimens you’re loving at the moment, please leave them in the comments below ๐Ÿ™‚

ColourPop Lippie Stix | Review & Swatches

Say hello to my new obsession! I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about the brand ColourPop lately so I decided to give them a try and they did not disappoint. These Lippie Stix are so amazing and for such a great price of only $5! They have an incredibly large selection of colors online and it took me quite a while to choose. I bought four to start with and decided to get two matte finishes and two satin finishes. The satin finishes are just slightly more moisturizing, which is to be expected. They are both extremely long wearing and super pigmented. I love that they don’t dry out your lips like a lot of long wearing lip products tend to do. I can’t wait to order more, and try out their blushes and eyeshadows next. If you’ve tried any of their products before please leave me a comment letting me know some of your faves!

Fetch – Mid tone Pink in a satin finish, great for spring!
Cookie – Nude/Beige in a matte finish, and the easiest to apply.
Frida – Mid tone Nude/Pink in a satin finish, and my personal favorite ๐Ÿ˜‰
LBB – Plum/Wine in a matte finish, created by the blogger LittleBlackBoots.

My 5 Favorite Fall Drugstore Lipsticks – Under $10

One thing I love about the fall and winter months is the bold lip trend. I’ve picked my 5 favorite drugstore lipsticks that I have been wearing non-stop this fall! Below you’ll see swatches and a mini review on each lipstick. Make sure to comment below letting me know what your favorite drugstore lipsticks are ๐Ÿ™‚ X Muah!

fall, lipstick, swatches, makeup, revlon, nyx, maybelline, milani, wet n wild, beauty

First up is Cabaret Blend by Milani. This is a deep red-berry color with a cream/satin finish. It’s the most moisturizing formula out of the 5 shown, but also the most difficult to apply because it’s so pigmented. I definitely recommend lining your lips before applying this lipstick.

Now for one of my absolute faves… Alabama by NYX. This is from their Matte collection and what I love most is the velvety formula. It’s everything I want in a matte lipstick; easy to apply, long wearing, and doesn’t dry out my lips. It truly feels like velvet on my lips and they are super pigmented as well. For only $6 I honestly could not ask for more!

Next is Touch of Spice by Maybelline. This one is the newest to my collection and I’ve worn it everyday since I purchased it. This long wearing lipstick is from their Color Sensational Creamy Mattes collection. I love the mauvey-brown color of this lipstick and it’s the creamiest matte formula I have ever used. I’m definitely going to have to go back and get more colors!

The second to last lipstick is Natural by NYX. This is also from their Matte collection and although it’s named Natural it’s much more of a Mauve color and has more pink in it, so it’s great for the day time when you don’t want to go too dark/bold.

Lastly is Bare It All by Wet n’ Wild. This is from their Mega Last Lip Color collection and for under $3 it’s a pretty good lipstick! I love the brownish-nude color of this one, and although you have to apply a few coats/layers, it’s pretty long wearing for the price! I would say this lipstick is in between a matte & cream finish.

There you have it! Happy fall y’all, and don’t forget to let me know what your favorite fall lipsticks are in the comments! ๐Ÿ™‚

New GLAMGLOW Daily Cleansers

glamglow, new, product, daily, cleansers, beauty, facial If you’re a fan of Glam Glow products then get excited, because they have created 4 new daily facial cleansers! These mud to foam cleansers are designed to help target different problems just like their matching mud masks. The first daily cleanser, SuperCleanse, will launch exclusively at Sephora on January 1st, 2015 followed by the other three YouthCleanse, ThirstyCleanse, and PowerCleanse which will launch in February 2015. I’ll be counting down the days until they are released and will make sure to keep you all posted with more info! ๐Ÿ™‚

New Colorful Z Palettes!

z palette

These 5 new colors were just launched on Z Palette’s website a few days ago and I seriously want one in every color, but for now I just ordered the Lavender! If you aren’t sure what a Z Palette is, it’s basically a empty magnetic container that allows you to customize your perfect makeup palette. You can take your favorite shadows, blushes, powders, bronzers etc. and de-pot them out of the containers/packaging and place them in your Z Palette! Most products come in tiny metal pans in which the makeup sits in, and this allows you to set them in the magnetic palette all nice and neat without them sliding around or falling out. If you have a makeup product without a metal pan, they sell them on their website here. These palettes are great for organization, and to prevent clutter. They’re also great for traveling so you don’t have to carry a ton of individual products, you just have all your faves in one sleek and super cute Z Palette! ๐Ÿ™‚ Let me know in the comments which one is your favorite color (it was hard for me to choose). Also, if you have any Z Palettes I’d love to see pictures of how you organized yours!
